Annual Report 2021In the 2021 annual report, the BIPT gives an overview of the past year.

The year 2021 was marked by a significant change in consumer behaviour and needs within the sectors regulated by the BIPT. This change is closely linked to the life changes which have taken place since the health crisis. The past year was characterised by the acceleration of the deployment of optical fibre, as well as the development of 5G based on the temporary licences issued by the BIPT in 2020. It is in this context that the BIPT continued to implement its Strategic Plan 2020-2022.

For the BIPT, 2021 was particularly important at the international level. During the whole year, the Institute chaired the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications, or BEREC, which adopted last year the last guidelines to implement the European Electronic Communications Code.

The annual report presents how the four strategic axes were translated into action via the Operational Plan 2021 and the day-to-day operation of the BIPT.

The main trends observed by the BIPT on the electronic communications, postal services and media markets are also described in the annual report.
