On 1 March this year, bpost increased its rates by an average of 7.32% for postal services that are part of the so-called “small user package” (postal services such as standard services and parcels that are often used by private individuals and small professionals).

The entry into force of the law of 26 January 2018 on postal services made it impossible for BIPT to check the rate increase in advance. In 2018, this new postal law only makes it possible for BIPT to check the rates ex-post on the basis of a new price cap formula.

On the basis of this formula, BIPT now approves these price increases, albeit with serious reservations.
