Each year, the BIPT draws up a statistics report on the electronic communications and television market in order to follow developments in the sector.

This year’s edition shows, in particular, that optical fibre coverage rose from 25% in January 2024 to 35.7% in January 2026, and that 39% of households with access to optical fibre choose this type of connection.

The HFC cable network (Hybrid Fibre Coax – a network combining optical fibre cables with coaxial cables) remains the dominant technology for fixed broadband access at present.

Fixed telephony and television are gradually losing customers, leading to a decline in four-service bundles.
