The BIPT suggests a temporary solution allowing the introduction of 5G and ensuring the continuity of 2G and 3G rights
Publications › Press release -
31/01/2020
In order to allow an initial roll-out of 5G in Belgium and to ensure the continuity of the service provision for current 2G and 3G licence holders, the BIPT proposes different solutions
WACC
Pages
The weighted average cost of capital (WACC) reflects the cost for an undertaking to obtain funding, partly from its shareholders (equity) and partly from third parties (debts). This cost is used to determine the regulated prices of operators with significant market power.
Accounting separation
Pages
Accounting separation obliges a vertically integrated undertaking to draft a profit-and-loss account per market, in order to verify the lack of discrimination or unfair cross-subsidy.
Mobile – Miscellaneous
Pages
Outside the particular context of market analyses, BIPT regularly addresses other issues related to mobile telecommunications services. Among the examples, there is an impact study on the entry of a fourth mobile operator in Belgium, or the imposition of provisional measures in case of disputes between operators.
Applicable regulations - Electronic communications
Pages
The applicable rules are published in French and Dutch only.
International Roaming
Pages
Since 15 June 2017, telecommunications operators can no longer charge roaming surcharges to users travelling in the countries of the EU (roaming) in addition to the national tariffs.
International telephony services
Pages
These markets concern the retailing of international fixed telephony services for residential and non-residential customers.
Fixed telephony access
Pages
This market concerns the retailing of access to the fixed telephony network for residential and non-residential customers.
National telephony services

Call origination (VAS, CS/CPS)
Pages
