How have the retail broadband and TV markets evolved in Belgium since the adoption on 29 June 2018 by the CRC (“Conference of regulators in the electronic communications sector”) of the new regulatory framework governing them? This report will answer this question through a threefold analysis:

  • Firstly, a description of the general market trends (number of commercialised broadband lines, relative weights of the various access technologies, market shares of the operators, etc.) and its residential segment more specifically (types of services bought by the consumers, churn rate, etc.). All these aspects will be discussed in Chapter 3.
  • Then, an examination of the evolution of the prices and characteristics of the bundles marketed by the operators (Chapter 4).
  • Finally, an analysis of the role played by the regulation in the evolution of the broadband and television markets since 2018 (Chapter 5).
