CLI use today is facing two challenges: on the one hand, abuse by fraudulent persons and bodies menacing end-users. On the other hand, operators wanting more flexibility in the use of the CLI.
These evolutions are only covered in part by the current regulation.
The BIPT wants to provide the sector and the end-user with more clarity as regards the use and the presentation of the CLI (confer as well the 2020 Operational Plan), from the moment a call is initiated until the time the call is ended.
That is why the BIPT puts forward four principles in this consultation document governing call routing, aiming at increasing the CLI’s reliability.
