The European legislator has determined that extraterritorial use of numbers, i.e. outside the territory of the allocating Member State, should be possible.
More specifically this concerns the use of non-geographic numbers (so without any geographical meaning) for non-interpersonal communications services.
This means other communications services than those involving direct personal communications between a number of persons, e.g. automatic data transfer.
To facilitate this each Member State has to allocate a non-geographic number range.
A decision will be adopted to implement that obligation.
The purpose of this consultation regarding the draft decision is to obtain feedback from all interested parties about the various options, and to gather any useful remarks as to the BIPT proposal for the number range to be allocated.
Deadline: 30 July 2021.
